Fabrilastic pen holder

After being given an assignment of making a pen holder of waste plastic bottle, I was thinking hard to come up with an innovative idea which would not only be new but also works out cheaper and easier on materials.
Once the plan for the penholders were in place I started executing them. This was my second creation were i just used simple things that is always available in your home and in your craft box.
I named it FABRILASTIC PEN HOLDER because the two important parts of the pen holder was the Plastic bottle and Fabric cloth as the base of decoration.
The fabric cloth gives you scope for variety of themes, and requirements. The fabric used is a simple cotton fabric which allowed me to use flowers and sequined laces. To add a bit more of traditional feel i added mirror pieces and decorated with glitter.
I dint record the making of the pen holder so just put up the final product. I have given detailed description of how i made it.
For the second one see my previous post http://dewartandcraft.blogspot.in/2012/02/aquarium-theme-pen-holder.html

Things you need:

Waste bottle
Cutter and Scissor
Cotton Fabric
Fevicol glitter
Round Mirror pieces
Floral cut outs from paper using small punch.
Sequined Laces
PVA glue

Method :

Cut the bottle according to the height you need for the holder.
Measure the fabric that you would need by placing it over the bottle and cut it out neatly.
The apply fevicol all over the bottle cup with more amount on the top and the base of the cup.
Gently place the fabric and slowly press the whole fabric around the bottle.
Once dry you can decide your decoration.
For the decoration you can decide themes and design using different materials.
Here i have alternated with 2 colored flowers  and in centre keep the mirror pieces.
Using fevicol glue the colorful lace at the top and base of holder.
THats It!!
IT is ready....
All set to be on your table...

Aquarium Pen Holder

This pen holder has been made from the throw away plastic bottle of the packaged drinking water.

The theme of aquarium was an inspiration from the ripples on the bottle. I used some old glass painting material and fevicol (PVA glue) to make the whole pen holder.

Things you need:

Fevicol Fabric glue or Fevicol preferably the bottled ones with small nozzle.
Empty dry water bottles
Glass paint colors (Blue, green yellow, pink, red)
Scissor and cutter...
AND lots of enthusiasm and motivation..

Method:
So what i did was cut the bottle according to the height that i needed.
Using cutter first the bottle to get a long cup.
With the help of scissor follow the rippled edges (if present on the bottle) and give the brim ridges and furrows.
Now using fevicol draw outlines of swimming fishes all over the long cup, coral and grasses at the base of the bottle cup and octopus or starfish if you like along with the fishes.
Once they dry you can use the blue color glass paint to paint all around the bottle cup. Then color the grass green , the corals red and combinations of different colors for the fishes.
You will have to do one side of the bottle at a time as the glass paint may spread if you turn over the bottle. So allow the glass paint to dry and follow the whole cup similarly.
Once everything is dry your aquarium pen holder is ready.

The Colorful Rattle/ Palm leaf Rattle

I made this using the traditional technique of rattle making from fresh palm leaves. It is a small inter-weaving process and you can get this beautiful rattle. I have put some sand and stones for it to make some noise.
To add to the Indian flavour i have colored it brightly with some vibrant colors and coupled it with diamond stones and mirror work. It is a contemporary and traditional amalgam of traditional Indian art. To add to the pleasant sound i have also fixed bells to the corners of the yo-yo.
